Drive & Determination

Our values...

The Château des Estanilles vineyard was created in 1976 by Michel Louison.

He planted Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache - the holy trinity of Languedoc grape varieties, which his successor holds dear - and kept the original Cinsault and Carignan.

In 2009, the domaine was taken over by Julien Seydoux, a young perfectionist with a passion for fine wines. Members of his family own an estate in the Costières de Nîmes appellation; he preferred to make his mark on the rugged landscape of northern Hérault. Julien has taken up the challenge to plough the same furrow as his predecessor, faithfully respecting his ways and working with the same philosophy. He plans to make his preferred style of wine, creating vintages with great structure and balance, full of ripe fruit, with well-integrated oak and soft, subtle tannins.

He will oversee the domaine’s conversion to official organic status in 2010, and has set himself the challenge of confirming Château des Estanilles’ excellent reputation as a leading estate and a shining example of the new generation of producers whose cuvées are appreciated by wine lovers the world over. At Château des Estanilles the winegrower will be ever-present, from the growing of the grapes to the selling of the wine. "It is essential that we respect Nature, farming the grapes as naturally as possible, and using the bare minimum of sulfites to keep our wines stable and able to stand the test of time."

"I want to make wines to lay down; complex, expressive, fine wines with soft, silky tannins that will be savoured fifteen years later, displaying the same elegant texture and ripe fruit flavours as today; wines which are the perfect, authentic reflection of this superb Faugères terroir."
